About the Artist:
I am a mostly self-taught watercolorist, aged 68, retired, painting for fun and occasionally for money. I got interested in drawing and painting at the age of 14 when my step-father gave me a book of semi-nude and nude women to use as a reference for pencil drawings. I did very well and it inspired me to take art classes in my Sophomore and Junior years in high school. I went on to dabble in watercolor, acrylic and oils over the years. Husband and children side-lined my art for a while but at the age of 40, newly divorced, children gone and time on my hands, I turned to art once again and have never stopped since then.
I have survived two divorces and been widowed once. Now, happily remarried for almost 6 years, my current husband supports my artistic endeavors totally. Life is good. I look for the beauty in life every day and I hope that is reflected in my artwork. Florals are my favorite subject matter but I try other subjects too.
