About the Artist:
Prior to 2004, I had no formal artistic training of any sort. My only creative mediums were those with which my traditional mother had acquainted me - cooking and sewing. In 2004, I received an e-mail advertisement from my employer, offering a Monart class for non-artists. Since I was teaching alternative students of whom a high percentage were artistically talented, I was attracted by this offer to bring art into my classroom. I immediately signed on and became hooked, and I am now greatly enjoying my new pastime.
Being a student of Linda Hansen and the Monart method, I believe that each stroke of the brush or pencil is meant to be. As the artist, it is my job to discover its purpose and to unify the strokes into a harmonious whole. My work is not laborious, and I do not seek exact realism.
I am pleased with the opportunity to share what I have done, and hope that it brings meaningful pleasure to you, as it does to me.
My work has been shown at the following locations in the Williamsburg area: Citizen's and Farmer's Bank, Solo Artist, August 2007; Kinks, Quirks, and Caffeine, as part of the 2008 Williamsburg Art Escape Weekend; local show at First Colony, October 2008; Norge Dental Clinic, November 2008; Norge Dental Clinic, April 2009. I will also be showing at the Greater Lanexa Studio Tour, October 2009.
